Park and Recreational Area Shade Structures

Many Parks and Recreation departments are including shade structures and canopies in their budgets and planning agendas. Shaded areas are safer to children and more comfortable to adults. As a result, these areas see more use and are looked upon favorably by members of the community. With increasing awareness of the dangers of skin cancer, playground canopies are becoming the norm rather than the exception, a welcome change for parents.

Shade structures have also been used to attract revenue in parks. For example, park authorities have rented their garden structures to party groups. These fees eventually pay for the shade structure and beyond that can pay for additional maintenance, amenities or... another shade structure!
